As many as 700 million people might be forced to flee their homes by 2050 as a result of global climate changes, which would make a mass migration larger than any seen in recorded history.
Chief among forces that will create climate refugees is the rise of sea levels because of melting ice sheets along Greenland and Antarctica, which puts coastal communities at risk of flooding. The Globe and Mail (Toronto) (6/11)
