The main obstacle to proper intercultural dialgue is the fear from the unknown. The One World Project was created precisley with the intention to reduce that animosity, by presenting to the public the colorfulness of the cultures of the world through all available modern means of communication.

We believe that being exposed to the culture of the other and learning about their living circumstances can indeed contribute to the elimination of preconcieved ideas, racism and intercultural intolerance.

Moreover, evaporating this „veil of ignoraance” could lead to a constructive and fruitful dialogue between the cultures of this planet, which could then breed the kind of creative exhange of wisdom which would stimualte a unique synthesis of knowledge. After all, dialogue is a basic and natural trait of humans.

ONE WORLD PROEJCT of Radio Tilos – a grassrootss independent not for profit community station(Budapest 90.3 FM, www.tilos.hu) is a year long multicultural program series meant to celebrate the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue during 2008.

The idea is to introduce the public to the various cultures of the world, through music, art, film and visuals, dance, round table discussions, and workshops. The project thus aims at the promotion of intercultural tolerance, and wishes to strengthen mutual understanding and respect for each others cultures.
